Dixon Place Presents The Guerrilla Lit Reading Series
We are pleased to announce that our reading scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 is a special night celebrating debut authors. This event features Jaclyn Gilbert, Tanya Marquardt, & Aatif Rashid.
The reading will occur in the lounge at Dixon Place at 7:30 PM. The event is FREE and open to the public.
Jaclyn Gilbert received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and BA from Yale University. She is the recipient of a research fellowship from the New York Public Library, a contributor to the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has led writing workshops at the Valhalla Correctional Facility, the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, and Curious-on-Hudson in Dobbs Ferry. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and Weimaraner, Phin. Late Air (Little A, 2018) is her first novel.
Tanya Marquardt is an award-winning performer and the author of ten plays, which have been produced across Canada and the United States. Her Transmission was published in the Canadian Theatre Review, and Some Must Watch While Some Must Sleep was the subject of an episode of NPR’s Invisibilia. Tanya’s debut memoir Stray: Memoir of a Runaway was recently published by Little A, and she has published personal essays in HuffPost UK, Endpain, and Medium, among others. A former Hertog Fellow, Tanya is a graduate of the MFA creative writing program at Hunter College.
Aatif Rashid is the author of Portrait of Sebastian Khan from 7.13 Books. He’s published short stories in The Massachusetts Review, Metaphorosis, and Arcturus, and nonfiction in The Los Angeles Review of Books as well as online on Medium. He currently writes weekly for The Kenyon Review Blog about fiction writing and literature.
The Dixon Place Lounge is open before, during and after the show. Bar proceeds directly support DP’s artists and mission.
