The Guerrilla Lit Reading Series is pleased to announce that our reading scheduled for Wednesday, July 30th will feature Brando Skyhorse, Karen Heuler, and Tejas Desai.
The reading will occur in The Back Room at Jimmy’s No. 43 at 7:30 PM. The event is FREE and open to the public.
Brando Skyhorse’s debut novel, The Madonnas of Echo Park, received the 2011 PEN/Hemingway Award and the Sue Kaufman Award for First Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The book was also a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers pick. He has been awarded fellowships at Ucross and Can Serrat, Spain. Skyhorse is a graduate of Stanford University and the MFA Writers’ Workshop program at UC Irvine. He is the 2014 Jenny McKean Moore Writer-In-Washington at George Washington University.
Karen Heuler’s stories have appeared in over 70 literary and speculative magazines and anthologies. She has published three novels and two story collections with university and small presses, and her last collection was chosen for Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2013 list. Permuted Press has just published her novel, Glorious Plague, about a beautiful apocalypse.
Born in New York City, Tejas Desai is a novelist, short story writer, blogger, and the founder of The New Wei Literary Movement and Collective. He has won the Wesleyan Fiction Award, sponsored by Norman Mailer, and holds both a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing/Literary Translation and a Master of Library/Information Science.
